Delhi Permits Night Shifts for Shops & Establishments

Delhi allows shops and establishments (except liquor shops) to operate night shifts under strict employee welfare safeguards.
On August 7, 2025, the Delhi Government exempted shops and commercial establishments (excluding liquor shops) from restrictions on night shifts, opening hours, and weekly closures under the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act. Employers must ensure employee welfare, including 9-hour/day limits, double overtime, rotational weekly offs, safe transport, CCTV, and Internal Committees under the PoSH Act. Written consent from women employees is required for night shifts, and employers must comply with EPF, ESI, wages, and statutory benefits
